We have adopted and implemented the following privacy policy as part of our commitment to protecting your privacy and personal information. This policy describes what information we collect from visitors to our site and how we will use that information. Our site is intended for customers and users located in Australia and New Zealand. If you are not an Australia or New Zealand customer, please visit www.vtech.com to find the appropriate site for your use.
Except for certain areas of our website that are limited to our retail dealers and distributors, you need not "sign-in" or register to browse our site. This means you may browse the web pages intended for end-user customers without providing any personal identifying information ("PII").
In the event that you choose to engage in a transaction while accessing our site, we will ask that you provide certain PII that is needed to complete the transaction. We will use the PII only for that purpose. For example, if you ask us for additional information about a product, we will ask for your email address in order that we may respond to your inquiry. If you purchase one of our products, we will ask that you provide us with the information needed to process your order, charge your credit card account, send you messages regarding your order and deliver the product you have purchased. Such information may include your first and last name, credit card number, billing and shipping address, email address and telephone number. Except as otherwise outlined in this policy, we do not give, sell, or trade to other firms or our affiliates any PII about you or your transactions with us, nor will we contact you using this information beyond the scope of your inquiry or transaction unless you specifically authorize us to.
We also provide customers with the opportunity to register their VTech products. We refer to this as "Registration Data." Providing Registration Data is optional, and we do not require that you give us this information to complete a purchase, receive warranty services or browse our site.
If you choose to provide Registration Data, we may use it, alone or in conjunction with other publicly available information, to identify other products or services that we think you may be interested in purchasing and to send you information about those other products or services. Sometimes we share Registration Data with other VTech owned entities who offer products and services that we think may be of interest to you. If you do not wish to receive these messages or prefer that we not share your Registration Data with any other companies, you can so indicate by unchecking the "opt-in" box located on the Consumer Warranty Registration page. If you uncheck the opt-in box, we will not give, sell, or trade to another firm or our affiliates any Registration Data about you or your transactions with us, except as otherwise outlined in this policy, nor will we contact you regarding other products or services.
If you did not opt-out or if you gave us authorization, you may receive periodic emails regarding products or services that we think may be of interest to you. You may opt-out of receiving these emails by clicking the "Unsubscribe" link at the bottom of the email received. It may take us up to 10 days to complete this process, as permitted by law. If you choose, you may at anytime reauthorize us to send you emails regarding products or services that we think may be of interest to you.
We use Secure Socket Layer Technology ("SSL") to encrypt the PII and Registration Data you give us through our site so that it cannot be read in transit. All of your PII and Registration Data, including your credit card number, mailing address, email address, and telephone number, as well as information related to your order, will be transmitted encrypted to protect your privacy. Further, to ensure that your PII and Registration Data are secure, we store this information in a database that is not accessible over the Internet.
Some of the pages on our website use "cookies" to help us better service visitors to our site. Cookies are brief text messages transmitted by a website to the hard drive of your computer when you click on a page. Should you return to the page at a later time, your computer will transmit the text message back to the website server to permit the server to recall previous visits to our site or to keep track of a transaction in progress. You may set your browser to reject cookies by changing the settings on your browser. Doing this, however, could diminish your use of our site by preventing the use of certain features including the purchasing process. Cookies are not linked to any PII or Registration Data.
Some pages of our website use "action tags," which are also known as clear GIF, web beacons or tracking pixels. An action tag is an invisible tag that may be placed on certain pages of our site but not your computer. When you access these pages, the action tags generate a generic code of that visit. Action tags are not linked to any PII or Registration Data.
For website analytics, we use two methods of tracking user behavior. Server log files and javascript tracking tags are used to analyze trends, administer the site, track user movement and gather other information. These tracking methods provide us information such as internet protocol addresses, browser type used, Internet Service Provider information, referring/exit pages, platform type, date/time, number of visitors, geographic location and ecommerce data. On occasion, we may share this information with our business partners and advertisers. This information is provided on an aggregated and anonymous basis. The contents of these tracking methods are not linked to any PII or Registration Data. The log based tracking utility used is Urchin Tracking by Google, our javascript tracking utility is Google Analytics.
Our website contains links to other third-party websites. If you choose to visit these other sites from our site, VTech is not responsible for the privacy practices or content of these other sites. The third-party promotions or advertisements displayed on our site may also contain cookies. We do not have access to or control over information collected by outside advertisers on our site.
Third party vendors, including Google, show VTech advertisements on third-party websites. Such third party vendors use cookies to serve advertisements based on your prior visits to our website. You may opt out of Google's use of cookies by visiting the Google advertising opt-out page, located at: https://www.google.com/privacy/ads/
We do not sell products for purchase by children. All of our products (including products intended to be used by children) are intended to be purchased by adults. If you are under 18 years old and you want to buy something on our website, you must have an adult buy it for you. We have not designed our website to encourage transactions with, or to obtain information from, children. VTech respects the sensitive nature of children's privacy online. Therefore, if we learn that a user is under 13 years of age, we will promptly delete any PII or Registration Data in that user's account, and if we learn that a user under 18 years old made a purchase through our website without adult involvement, the order will not be processed.
If required by law or legal proceedings or to enforce our legal rights, VTech may disclose the personal information of a customer or aggregated data collected on the site. Additionally, in order to accommodate changes in our business, we may sell portions of our company or its assets. If VTech or a substantial part of the company's assets are sold, VTech may transfer the information collected through this website to the purchaser as part of the sale.
If you have any questions about our privacy policy or the practices of this site, please contact us at 1300 369 193 (Australia) or 0800 369 193 (New Zealand). We may from time to time change our privacy policy; such changes will be posted here. By accessing our website, you agree that the information that we gather now will be subject to the privacy policy in effect at the time of use. You should check this page for revisions periodically.
This version of the privacy policy will become effective January 1, 2016.
